On May 31, 2018, at 2.30 pm, a regular meeting of the National Council of Interested Parties (hereinafter referred to as NCIP) was held with the participation of the Head of the International EITI Secretariat Jonas Moberg and the Regional Manager for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia Olyana Valigura.
The meeting was chaired by the Chairman of the Committee for Geology and Subsoil Use of the MIR RK and the Deputy Chairman of the NCIP Nadyrbaev AA. The members of the NCIP also took part in the meeting: deputies of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Muradov A.S., Hituov T., representatives of the Ministry of Investments, Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Finance, «Kazenergy» and AGMP, non-governmental sector, observers.
According to the Agenda, issues related to corrective measures were discussed before the EITI Standard was fully achieved, given by the decision of the International EITI Board on February 13, 2018, following validation in Kazakhstan. The main ones concerned the transaction of public enterprises, quasi-fiscal sector, barter and trade in commodities.
The issues of representation of civil society in the NCIP were also discussed in accordance with the EITI requirement, which should coordinate the process of ensuring a multifaceted and representative participation in the NCIP. The invitation to participate in the work of NCIP should be open, transparent and independent.
