The Global EITI Conference was held in Paris (France) at the period from June 17 to June 19, 2019. The conference is considered to be the highest governing agency of the EITI. Executive heads of the nations, ministers, chairmen, directors and top leaders of international civil society attended the conference. Over 1000 participants from about 100 countries visited this Conference.
The Director of the Subsoil Use Department of the MIID of the Republic of Kazakhstan Baymishev Ruslan, as a member of the International EITI Board, representatives of civil society Lobacheva Maria and Aytenova Sholpan, and Karibayev Zhanat from the National EITI Secretariat took part in the Conference as a delegation from Kazakhstan. A representative of the National EITI Secretariat made a report about «The progress of Kazakhstan in the implementation of the EITI». A stand was also presented at the National EITI Exhibition from the country, booklets on EITI integration were distributed and videos on the implementation of the EITI in Kazakhstan were shown.
The presentation of the new EITI Standard-2019 was a key event of the Conference. This Standard focuses on problems in the management of the mining sector, which are related to global priorities for resource mobilization within countries, the environment and gender aspects. The EITI continues to develop its work in the management of the extractive industries and solve critical problems, such as state participation and commodity trading, based on the experience and lessons learned from the EITI implementing countries.
